Dear John - Subject Darren Benjamin

Thank you so much for putting me in touch with Darren. We had a super long chat about what we do and how we do it and it will be so invaluable chatting to him. He introduced me to forexfactory.com which I have put as a favourite now and I will certainly keep that one in mind.

Today I reached 10 pips and I’m happy with that. I have no burning desire to trade more today as I made such good pips throughout the week. So today I’ll watch the charts and see what happens.

Cable took such a pounding yesterday it was quite depressing. Thank goodness I am not sending money abroad this week. I did last week and got an ok exchange but today it would be a disgrace.

I have also found the best time to trade is between 830 and 930am when I get my best trades. I found a few really good spikes and traded them and make some very decent profits. I do this on the 5 minute and don’t look at the 1 minute. That is a no-no till I’ve done your scalping course. Today I think I missed the boat a bit but now that I have forexfactory I will check to see when the news breaks. I got into a trade too late and since then it’s petered out to a point that I don’t feel confident to trade.

The best trading times for me seem to be between 8 and 930am and then 1pm and 3pm when three markets are open. After that it’s just the Americans and by then I’ve run out of steam to carry on trading. So while I’m in the States I’ll get up at 330am and do my hour’s trading and then head back to bed.

I sent Worldspreads a cheque for £3000 yesterday but will only start trading when you feel I am ready and I will trade on £1 and not £3 to start with. I sense this will be a whole new ball game once I use proper money, although I feel absolutely sick to the stomach when I make a loss and euphoric when I make a gain.

So out of 39 trades this week I won 30 and lost 9. I am reducing the size of my stops as I do very quick trades only. It was also a week of getting used to Worldspreads and learning about ‘trigger finger’ when entering and exiting trades.

I feel quietly confident that I can turn this into a career. I have tentatively given myself until April when I want to jack my day job and trade full time. Leigh has already offered to support me till I get the trading under my belt so that I can give up my day job and concentrate on the trading but I am not going with this offer as I don’t want to put a time frame onto when I am ready. Trading is stressful enough without adding additional stresses onto myself.

Meeting Darren I think is a huge plus. I also sent him both copies of Iain’s trading analyzer to use as well. He’s a great chap. Skype is a wonderful way to communicate.

And that’s my news for now. Todays exercise is to watch the news and see how it affects the markets. Watch this space !!!
